A Lack of Focus is a Determent to Your Child’s Success in School
Focus is often an overlook life skill.
It is so important though, to your child’s success in school. A child who is unable to focus will have a difficult time learning and can easily fall behind the rest of their peers.
The most scary part of child falling behind, even just a little every year, is the compounding effect on your child’s mental and emotional health.
For those who are unfamiliar with the compounding effect, it is when small incremental things add up over time. We almost always think about the compounding effect as it relates to our financial investments where saving a little very month adds up over the course of many years. The compound effect also occurs with our health, our emotional strength, our ability to learn, and just about anything in life.
When a child lacks focus, it makes it difficult for them to learn. At first you and your child, may not even notice the negative affects as they may be small and incremental; however, over time, you will begin to notice it and so will your child. Your child will begin to question them themselves and self-doubt will start to rear it’s ugly head.
If you are like most parents, you want your child to be physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially strong. You want them to be able to find their inner hero and to overcome challenges and obstacles. This is why providing your child with the necessary resource to learn how to focus at a higher level is so critical to your child’s emotional health and well-being.
Now, there are 4 ways in which we focus; our eyes, our ears, our mind, and our bodies. We naturally tend to rely on one area more than the others. So, even if your child is able to focus enough to do well in school, image if you help your child enhance their ability to focus with their non-dominant methods.
Martial arts, when taught intentionally to improve focus, is a great vehicle to help your child improve their ability to focus having a compounding affect on your child’s overall mental and emotional health as well has their educational success.
A highly trained staff at a martial arts facility will be experts in setting the proper environment to help improve students’ ability to focus. They will utilize a series of drills and activities to isolate each area of focus while making it fun and engaging. A child will not even know they are working on improving their ability to focus; however, an educated parent will immediately notice.
