Why every child should learn martial arts
It is never too early to start teaching your child about self-defense and martial arts. The earlier you start, the better chance they have of learning the skills they need to protect themselves from bullies, older children that might take advantage of them, or someone who wants to hurt them. Martial arts teaches kids discipline and respect while also giving them a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their abilities. There are many great reasons for starting your child on martial arts today!
One of the main reasons parents and grandparents get their children and grandchildren involved in martial arts is to gain confidence. These adults with lots of real life experience understand the power of confidence in one’s life. It hard to enjoy the many pleasure of life with self-doubt and a lack of self-esteem.
The confidence your child will gains from participating in a martial arts program will help your child learn how to stand up for themselves when they are being bullied. Confident children know how to stand tall, to make strong eye contact, and to speak clearly even in difficult situations. Rather than becoming the next victim, a confident child who has learn to communicate effectively will have an advantage over bullies.
Confidence is a learned behavior. Building your confidence takes work, and it starts with improving how you feel about yourself on all levels: physically standing tall in the face of a unkind person or the unhealthy peer pressure from someone who wants something from you; looking people directly in their eyes without any sign that might make them think less of what they see there (i e., not being afraid); and speaking clearly so others can understand every word spoken–even if those words are “no.” These are skills every child should learn and the martial arts is the idea vehicle for students to learn these skill when taught by well-educated martial arts instructors.
